  1. At its September meeting, the board of directors voted to go on record in support of the proposed city sales tax increase, which will be on the Nov. 8 ballot. The additional .75% sales tax will be dedicated to help fund infrastructure projects that are vital to economic development and community growth. Learn more here …
  2. Daycare availability impacts workforce. After an EDC board recommendation, the City of Grand Forks Growth Fund and Jobs Development Authority approved the state’s FlexPACE – Daycare program among those that may be considered for funding support.
  3. The impact of UND is impressive, as President Mark Kennedy demonstrated in his first Wake Up to UND address. From research, to opportunity, to student preparedness, he highlighted areas of opportunity and collaboration as “One Grand Forks.” If you missed it, you can see it here.
  4. Keith Lund briefed the Grand Forks area board of realtors on recent efforts of the EDC and City of Grand Forks to address the region’s housing needs and support initiatives to promote new market growth.

  6. Terry Sando, Brandon Baumbach, and Klaus Thiessen met with the Northwood Airport Authority to introduce opportunities they may have as unmanned systems operations continue to grow in the region.
  7. Congratulations to the North Dakota Mill and Elevator on the completion of its multi-million dollar expansion. We enjoyed celebrating at the ribbon cutting. Did you know it is the largest single-site flour mill in the U.S.?

  9. Brandon Baumbach and Also Creative owner Justin Auch met with gubenatorial candidate Doug Burgum, briefing him on regional entrepreneurship initiatives including Start Up Grand Forks and The 701 co-working space.
