Terry Sando, the EDC’s Director of UAS Sector Development, announced his resignation, effective in early September, to pursue an opportunity in the private sector.
“We are appreciative of Terry’s commitment and his impact on raising the region’s UAS profile, as well as the breadth of industry knowledge he brought to the EDC,” said EDC President & CEO Keith Lund.
Sando joined the EDC in 2013 and during his tenure, advanced international business interest in the region, attracting companies to the region to collaborate on research projects that are leading to new commercial opportunities and industry-wide development. He led the formulation of research projects involving large unmanned systems for precision agriculture and storm damage assessment and is helping connect industry leaders in the utilities industry.
“The UAS environment in the Grand Forks region is as strong as it’s ever been,” said Sando. “As the industry continues to identify new ways to collect and use data from autonomous systems, industry leaders in this region will continue to be at the forefront of development. It’s an exciting time to capitalize on the strong synergies we have in this area among UND, the private sector, and public partners.”
Lund says the EDC remains committed to advancing the region’s UAS business sector and will hire a successor to will build on the growth trajectory Sando has been instrumental in developing.
