BISMARCK, N.D. (Aug. 5-9, 2019) — The North Dakota Association of Career and Technical Educators (NDACTE) presented Northrop Grumman with its Impact Award for Business/Education Partnership at the NDACTE annual conference. This award recognizes contributions to Career and Technical Education by business and industry.
“These type of business-education relationships benefit our entire community, starting with the students, who are able to learn, experience, and develop interest in fields that are aligned with our region’s workforce and economy,” said Eric Ripley, Executive Director of CTE & Technology at Grand Forks Public Schools.
Northrop Grumman supports STEM-related educational opportunities to students in the Grand Forks Public Schools, including robotics and cybersecurity competitions, career development, internships, and space camp.
“Our district has been able to enhance the curricular opportunities for students within three emerging career fields: Computer Science, STEM, and UAS. Providing students with the ability to learn more about these fields at an early age is valuable as they explore all of the career pathways available to them. Benefiting from the expertise and resources of industry partners allows our Career and Technical Education classrooms and labs to be relevant, up-to-date, and engaging for the students,” Ripley added.
Northrop Grumman, a global aerospace and defense technology company, is an anchor tenant of the Grand Sky UAS business and aviation park located at the Grand Forks Air Force Base.
“We are very grateful for the award and we are proud of the work we do to further the cause of STEM education in the Grand Forks school system and in our area communities,” said Michael Fridolfs, Grand Sky Site Director, Northrop Grumman Corporation.
