Incoming University of North Dakota (UND) President Andrew Armacost will headline the annual meeting of the Grand Forks Region Economic Development Corporation (EDC) as the event’s keynote speaker.
The theme of the annual meeting is Breaking New Ground. With $1 billion in investment, Grand Forks is a region on the rise, breaking new ground in physical infrastructure and cutting-edge technology and research.
“UND is literally breaking ground in several ways, including buildings, streets, and other infrastructure, for the betterment of the university and future of our region. Additionally, groundbreaking town-gown partnerships in commercialization and research will take us to new levels,” said EDC President & CEO Keith Lund. “For those reasons, there is no better person to speak to EDC stakeholders at our annual meeting than incoming UND President Armacost. He represents an exciting future for our community and region.”
Armacost recently completed his service as the Dean of the Faculty at the U.S. Air Force Academy. With more than 30 years on active duty, including 20 years at the Academy, Armacost attained the rank of Brigadier General, and served as the Chief Academic Officer for this nationally ranked institution. He has been widely recognized for his disciplinary expertise, academic leadership, and commitment to interdisciplinary learning. His first day as President of UND is slated to be June 1, 2020.
