- Mayor Michael Brown led a delegation of Base Retention and Investment Committee (BRIC) members, including EDC president & CEO Keith Lund, to Langley Air Force Base where they met with ACC Commander General James Holmes. The group also traveled to Lackland Air Force Base to meet with 25th Air Force Commander Mary O’Brien. Both Air Force leaders play a key role in shaping the future of Grand Forks Air Force Base. - Grand Forks is one friendly place to live and it just got even friendlier. More than 70 people helped create the Welcoming Community Roadmap, which was approved by the Grand Forks City Council on November 5th. Learn more about the Welcoming Community Roadmap.
- EDC Strategic Coordinator Becca Cruger gave a ‘Cooler’ presentation to the Grand Forks Society for Human Resource Management on how the Greater Grand Forks: Way Cooler Than You Think workforce initiative can help companies recruit talent to the region. - Speaking about Becca, she presented on the panel at the Research Institute for Autonomous System’s (RIAS) second advisory board meeting on November 16th about workforce development. RIAS coordinates UND’s expertise, infrastructure and activities for cutting edge unmanned and autonomous technology and workforce development.
- Retrax General Manager Scott Fuller gave the EDC team a tour of their new 80,000 sq. ft. production facility. The company now employs over 190 people and operates in three facilities that total 120,000 sq. ft. Check Retrax out.
- The Valley Prosperity Partnership (VPP) steering committee met on November 29th with Valley Legislators. The meeting primarily focused on the VPP’s legislative support for university research funding. Co-chairs Tammy Miller and Steve Burian submitted an op-ed to state newspapers reinforcing that support.
- Grand Forks Downtown Action Plan Design Studio was held earlier this month. Residents came to share input into the future of downtown Grand Forks. Future listening sessions will be held in the Spring.
- Vigilant Aerospace Business Development Manager Ryan Aasheim shared his experience providing airspace monitoring for the recent flights-over people demonstration project at the FargoDome at this month’s DroneBiz.
- Congratulations and best of luck to former EDC Marketing/Communications Manager Doris Cooper as she begins her new journey with AE2S this month.
