- The 2016 Northern Valley Career Expo on Nov. 2 was the largest to date, with 34 schools sending sophomores to learn about careers in the region. Student surveys after the event validate the event’s impact: 86.3% say the Expo increased their interest in pursing a career in the region and 96% say it was a valuable career education activity.
- Terry Sando met with businesses and industry leaders at Unmanned Systems Canada, continuing to promote the region’s assets for UAS opportunities.
- The Grand Forks Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council gave preliminary approvals for zoning, platting and annexation for the bio-refinery being developed by Biomass Solution, an EDC client.
- Brandon Baumbach attended the Red River Regional Council’s Ideas to Action summit, which showcased economic and community development projects throughout Northeast North Dakota.
- We attended GFAFB Commander Col. Rodney Lewis’s State of the Base address where he highlighted recent investments at the base and its current missions.
- Keys were handed over to the co-working space and Evolve Grand Forks (formerly Evolve ND) volunteers are hard at work getting it ready for its December opening.
- Klaus, Keith, and Terry briefed the North Dakota Economic Development Foundation on the region’s activities and provided them an update on the Valley Prosperity Partnership’s priorities for the upcoming legislative session.
- We attended the ground breaking for the city’s water treatment plant. It’s a critical piece of infrastructure needed to support our community’s growth.
