  1. Representatives from the Base Realignment Impact Committee (BRIC) were in Washington D.C. meeting with the state’s Congressional Delegation and with officials at the Pentagon as the group continues to work to advance opportunities at the Grand Forks Air Force Base.
  2. We welcome EDC client company Sharper Shape to Grand Forks. The Finland-based company announced in December the establishment of its first U.S. location here. The company supplies drone-based inspection systems for power lines, pipelines and other high value assets.
  3. Thank you to Dr. Robert Kelley for his leadership and commitment to supporting the region’s economic development initiatives during his tenure as president at UND. Like many in the community, we attended the reception UND hosted, wishing him well in his retirement.
  4. Join us in welcoming Amy Lund (no, she’s not relatd to Keith) to the EDC. She joined us in a part-time capacity as our finance coordinator.
  5. The joint EDC/The Chamber government relations committee met with Governor Jack Dalrymple to provide an update on Grand Forks projects and discuss regional opportunities.
  6. Congratulations to EDC advisory board member Bill Burga, who was recently named to lead a company-wide initiative focused on operational excellence for LM Wind Power’s global footprint.
  7. Terry Sando attended the Aerial Applicators conference in Fargo.
  8. A robust arts and culture community is one important element of a vibrant community that entices people to live, work and play here. The public arts master plan unveiled in December is a next step to enhancing the community’s offerings in this arena.
  9. We concluded 2015, thankful for your continuing commitment to the EDC and to supporting the region’s growth and prosperity.
  10. SAVE THE DATE! Our annual meeting and social is quickly approaching: 4 p.m., Thursday, March 31. Pending scheduling, N.D. Senator John Hoeven will join us as our keynote speaker.
