  1. EDC President & CEO Keith Lund issued the following in support of the University of North Dakota’s new interim president:

    ” Congratulations to Dr. Joshua Wynne on his appointment as Interim President of UND. His commitment to carrying forward UND’s strategic plan and history of strengthening partnerships across local, state, and national levels will serve our region well.

    The EDC will proudly continue to work alongside Dr. Wynne, our partners at UND, industry leaders, and community stakeholders to shape a 21st century workforce and promote economic growth.”
  2. Team Grand Forks’ 2019 Legislative agenda fared exceptionally well during the 2019 North Dakota Legislative Session. Some highlights:

    Operation Prairie Dog
    $33 million UAS investment
    Military spouse licensure reciprocity
    UND research funding and capital projects
  3. U.S. Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson and  Senator John Hoeven announced that Grand Forks Air Force Base will become the primary base for all Global Hawk missions in the U.S. Air Force personnel operating Global Hawk aircraft across the globe — including those who work in Guam, Japan, Italy and Beale Air Force Base in California — will report to the Grand Forks base commander.
  4. The Grand Forks Growth Fund Committee reviewed and recommended the Jobs Development Authority approve the following loan applications:

    ● new childcare facility backed by real estate holding company Viscito Investments
    ● expansion project by custom manufacturer Paragon Pro 
    distribution center expansion at Acme Tools
  5. Congratulations to EDC member True North Equipment on their recent expansion! The company will significantly expand their Minnesota territory after acquiring Evergreen Implement. 
  6. Start-Up Grand Forks saw some program changes this month. The program also loaned $5,000 to All Embracing HomeCare, and the Growth Fund voted to recommend the JDA award Red Pine Distillery a Start-Up loan for $20,000.
  7. EDC Business Development Manager Brandon Baumbach, along with Ryan Barstad from ARC Metal Forming, presented to the Highway 2 West Manufacturers’ Association at the Alerus Center, then led the group on a tour of ARC Metal Forming.   
  8. May 31 was National Autonomous Vehicles Day. Here’s why our region celebrates Unmanned Autonomous Systems every day.
  9. EDC Workforce and Strategic Initiatives Coordinator Becca Cruger judged the Main Street GF Challenge. For the second year in a row, high school and college students with innovative ideas were awarded funding & resources to carry out new ideas. 
  10. The Grand Forks Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Map illustrates resources and services available to entrepreneurs in the Grand Forks region. Former EDC Intern Bridget West shares her experience developing the map.
