  1. Altru Health System announced that they are moving forward with the construction of their new hospital. The project will resume this fall, with a plan for completion in 2024.
  2. Check out the article “Want to Build a Career in Drone Technology? Move Here.” The Grand Forks region’s UAS ecosystem was featured in Livability, a national platform showcasing what makes small to mid-sized cities great places to live.
  3. Speaking of our UAS industry taking the national stage, North Dakota was recently ranked #1 for states most prepared for the commercial drone industry. 
  4. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles Brown Jr. visited the Grand Forks Air Force Base and the Grand Sky UAS Park in February to learn about the unique UAS assets of our region. 
  5. Grand Sky has a new tenant. Vantis, North Dakota’s statewide unmanned aircraft systems network, recently signed a long-term agreement to house the Vantis Mission and Network Operations Center (MNOC) at the business and aviation park.  
  6. Congratulations to Dr. Eric Link on being named UND’s new provost and vice president for academic affairs. We look forward to working with him.
  7. Becca Cruger, workforce development manager at the EDC, has been named to the International Economic Development Council’s Young Professionals Advisory Committee. Congratulations, Becca!
  8. Cruger also presented on Skillbridge and Accelerate to Industry workforce development programs last week. Skillbridge connects air force base retirees to career opportunities in our region. Accelerate to Industry helps UND graduate students and postdocs obtain the workforce skills, knowledge, and experience they need to be successful in their careers.
  9. The Northern Plains Rail Services (NPRS) is officially in operation as a transloading site in Grand Forks, concluding phase two of the initial project that began in 2019. This is the first company in the region to serve as an open resource for transload services.
  10. EDC President & CEO Keith Lund was interviewed in an article by the Grand Forks Herald on economic development momentum in the region despite the pandemic.
