Grand Forks Region EDC Top 10 – September 2018

  1. John Eickhof, co-founder of Construction Engineers, retired from the EDC board of directors. He served as an EDC volunteer for 17 years. He said, “An EDC board membership is a coveted position and I will forever cherish my time spend working with all of you for the benefit of Grand Forks. “
  2. The EDC board reviewed and recommended approval of support for three expansion projects totalling $65.5 million of new capital investment in the region.
  3. Congratulations to all partners who have contributed to efforts to build on our region’s vibrancy, which led to Grand Forks receiving Gov. Doug Burgum’s Main Street Excellence award.
  4. Business Development Manager Brandon Baumbach has been selected to the Red River Corridor Fund review committee. The fund supports job creation by providing access to captial through loan guarantees and angel fund investment to small business.
  5. EDC President & CEO Keith Lund traveled with Grand Forks Mayor Michael Brown and City Administrator Todd Feland to Lodz, Poland to meet with university and community partners. They explored research and business development opportunities and ways to build on the partnership started with BioMass Solution, which is building Red River Biorefinery.
  6. UND President Mark Kennedy highlighted university collaboration with the EDC and other community partners as part of his annual Wake Up to UND address, noting the success of InternGF and efforts to connect students to the business community. More …
  7. Baumbach was a panelist at UND’s Inventors, Makers & Entrepreneurs workshop. He offered his insights on funding new ventures starting in North Dakota alongside other state and local resource providers.
  8. Greater Grand Forks: Way Cooler Than You Think! celebrated the Potato Bowl, releasing a video that explores the path of a free potato…Check it out!
  9. It’s still BRIC, but the Base Realignment Impact Committee announced a name change to Base Retention and Investment Committee, signifying an expanding focus on opportunities to realize base and mission growth.
  10. The EDC partnered to support the first food delivery by drone on a U.S. golf course. More here
