  2. Amy Whitney, the new director at UND Center for Innovation, was the guest presenter at our advisory board meeting. Whitney discussed her goals for the Center for Innovation – partnerships, programs, and resources.
  3. EDC client and member General Atomics made history, completing the first-ever trans-Atlantic flight of a remotely piloted aircraft that left from Grand Sky enroute to England. You can read more about it here.
  4. UAS Sector Development Manager Wes Shover was part of the speaker panel at the Midwest Big Data Hub symposium at UND, addressing unplanned events, community resilience and governance.
  5. The Valley Prosperity Partnership announced it is hosting a first-ever joint presentation from the presidents of UND and NDSU to discuss research priorities and impact.   6. Celebrating National Intern Day, the EDC’s summer interns have been busy! Entrepreneurial ecosystem intern Bridget West has had more than 50 meetings as part of her effort to map the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Marketing intern Frankie Good’s creative juices have been flowing as she builds out social media and web content for Northern Valley Careers and the Oct. 31 Expo.
  7. The EDC coordinated introductions of 15 regional companies to Northrop Grumman Corporation, which held a small business symposium to discuss supply chain goods and services opportunities with their company.
  8. Congratulations to Keith Reitmeier, who retired this month from Job Service N.D. He most recently served as the area manager working closely with the EDC and other organizations to promote workforce recruitment and retention programs.
  9. The UAS Summit announced its agenda, which features a line up of local and national speakers. They are offering  complimentary passes to attend industry specific breakout sessions from 3 – 5 p.m. on Aug. 20 as part of this year’s 3-day event. It’s a great opportunity to gain insider insight about real world utilization in five sectors. Details here …
  10. 30YEARStrivia: …The EDC is one of nine organizations that plans the Northern Valley Career Expo, which started in 2012. Since then the event has introduced nearly 10,000 students to careers in the Northeast North Dakota and Northwest Minnesota. The 7th annual event is Oct. 31 and exhibitor registration is now open.
