  1. We launched InternGF, a new program for EDC member companies or local early stage companies to cost share new internship experiences for UND students. Learn more…
  2. EDC President & CEO Keith Lund has been appointed by Gov. Doug Burgum to the North Dakota Workforce Development Council.
  3. We were part of a local team that prepared for and hosted Gov. Burgum for his Main Street visit. The Governor led a conversation with community leaders, toured several businesses and was the keynote speaker at The Chamber’s annual meeting that evening. He was impressed with the community’s progress and plans related to the Main Street pillars: 21st Century Workforce, Healthy Vibrant Communities, and Smart Efficient Infrastructure.

  5. In other UAS news, Shover is leading the charge to reinstate the the Great Plains chapter of AUVSI.
  6. Lund was the guest speaker at Grand Forks Builders and Traders, providing an update on EDC projects and activities.
  7. Business Manager Brandon Baumbach met with teams  and toured  Wells Concrete and Hood Packaging, receiving updates on their industries.
  8. Strategic Initiatives Coordinator Becca Cruger provided a COOL update to The Chamber Ambassadors. Greater Grand Forks: Way Cooler Than You Think has more than 1,000 social media followers and continues to increase its outreach to people likely to consider a career in the Grand Forks region.   9. Employer registration for Career Conversations closes today, (Jan. 31), with about 1,000 slots open for area college students choose from when their registration opens early next week. The annual workforce retention event gives students an opportunity to connect with professionals in the region, and help link academic learning to real applications.
  10. We are kicking off a celebration of 30 years as a corporation. The Grand Forks Region EDC was formally incorporated in 1988.
