  1. More big news. The board of directors named EDC Vice President Keith Lund to succeed Klaus Thiessen as president and CEO. Lund will assume his new responsibilities July 1.More …
  2. President & CEO Klaus Thiessen was in Washington D.C. as part of a Base Realignment Impact Committee visit to meet with our Congressional delegation and officials at the Pentagon and discuss opportunities for the Grand Forks Air Force Base.
  3. Service just keeps getting better. EDC investor Midco announced at a 1 Million Cups and news conference that it has launched gigabit service in the Grand Forks region to any location it serves. They have also started construction on an $8 million data center on 42nd St.
  4. EDC client Reile’s Transfer and Delivery was recognized as a “BNSF Premier Transload Facility” for meeting and exceeding the company’s standards of excellence.
  5. Welcome to our newest investors, McGough Construction and Bioscience Association of North Dakota.
  6. The EDC hosted nearly 40 representatives from the area’s financial institutions to highlight new programs and changes to others that are available to help businesses start and expand in the region. Bank of North Dakota representatives also reviewed programs they have available,
  7. Keith Lund attended the National Association of Foreign Trade Zones spring conference. The EDC is in the process of assuming management responsibilities for Grand Forks’ Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ). If you’re interested in learning more about the FTZ,  give us a call!
  8. The Valley Prosperity Partnership steering committee met, recapping the 2017 legislative session and laying groundwork for sustaining the group and continuing to address the priorities it’s identified to continue spurring the Valley’s growth.
  9. Whew! The EDC hosted a whirlwind Grand Forks tour for Lt. Gov. Brent Sanford, where he met with local business leaders, spoke to a Drone Biz audience of nearly 50, toured EERC, and met with a class of high school students.
  10. Speaking of whirlwinds…Sando packed a punch in May, presenting to insurance agents on the opportunities to integrate drones in their industry, attending the world’s largest drone expo as part of a North Dakota team, coordinating a large-scale storm damage assessment simulation as part of the Drone Focus conference, and talking all things drones and economic development on a radio podcast.
