  1. At the EDC annual meeting, members elected three to serve terms with the board of directors: Karl Bollingberg, executive vice president at Alerus Financial; Grant McGimpsey, vice president of research and economic development at UND; and Jonathan Holth, co-owner of The Toasted Frog restaurants.

  5. The EDC team joined Grand Forks leaders in Bismarck for Grand Forks Day at the Capitol, meeting with local legislatures and state officials to discuss Grand Forks area projects.
  6. Terry Sando, UAS Sector Senior Developer, was among those presenting at UAS Industry Day, an event hosted by the ND Department of Commerce to introduce industry executives to opportunities for expansion and development in the state.
  7. The economic impact of research at UND in 2016 was nearly $211 million, with more than $175 million of that impact and UND and in Grand Forks County, according to the annual report provided by the office of the vice president for research and economic development. at UND.
  8. Keith Lund spoke with the South Forks Lions Club, sharing updates on initiatives the EDC is involved with including workforce development, housing, and infrastructure. He also discussed the importance of downtown development and the infrastructure sales tax to the region’s future growth opportunities.
  9. EDC President & CEO Klaus Thiessen was joined by Vice President Keith Lund, Development and Outreach Manager Brandon Baumbach, and UAS Sector Senior Director Terry Sando to present an overview of the organization’s work to members and guests at the annual meeting.
  10. Keith Lund participated in a discussion at a Greater Grand Forks Human Resource Association luncheon that drew more than 70 people to share success stories and best practices and how to support New Americans in the workplace.
