  1. The EDC board of directors and GFK Airport Authority have approved a transfer of Foreign Trade Zone #103 grantee status to the EDC. What’s a foreign trade zone, you ask? Read more about it here.
  2. Congratulations to EDC Development & Outreach Manager Brandon Baumbach, who was named an honorary commander with the Grand Forks Air Force Base.
  3. Welcome to the newest EDC investors, who have begun supporting the region’s economic development initiatives in 2017: Elbit Systems of America, Bank of North Dakota, and Houston Engineering.
  4. Recognizing the impact of vibrant downtowns on community growth and the ability to recruit and retain millennials, the EDC board of directors voted to support the proposed mixed use development for the Arbor lot in downtown Grand Forks.
  5. President & CEO Klaus Thiessen was part of a mayor-led visit to meet with the Congressional delegation in Washington D.C. to discuss a range of topics important to Grand Forks growth and prosperity.
  6. Director of UAS Development Terry Sando attended the Precision Ag summit, meeting with producers and companies about UAS opportunities.
  7. Vice President Keith Lund testified at the Senate Appropriations Committee, supporting the Department of Commerce budget and highlighting the importance of diversification and workforce development.
  8. We attended the Chamber’s annual meeting – congratulations to Marijo Shide on a well-deserved honor as the recipient of the Henry Havig award.
  9. It was fascinating to listen to Adam & Rob from RDO Integrated Systems talk at Drone Biz about the projects they’re part of to bring drones into agriculture and construction industries.
