  1. Nice touch, Mayor Brown. We loved the drone delivery of your state of the city speech! From unmanned systems (UAS), the Valley Prosperity Partnership, to the Northern Valley Career Expo and downtown development, the mayor highlighted many initiatives the EDC is part of to help build the best Grand Forks.
  2. Klaus Thiessen and Keith Lund traveled with the N.D. Department of Commerce Commissioner Al Anderson and Director Paul Lucy to meet with Cirrus Aircraft executives in Duluth for an update on the company’s exciting growth and learn more about how the EDC and state can support them moving forward.
  3. Nick Jensen with Evolve ND provided our advisors and directors an update on the proposed co-working space under development for downtown Grand Forks. Curious? Check out their site, or give us a call and we can put you in touch.
  4. The EDC is hiring a business development projects coordinator to join our team. Do you know someone you think may be perfect for the job? Send them our way.
  5. Looking for Base Realignment Impact Committee (BRIC) Coordinator Tom Ford? So are we. His office has relocated from the EDC to Grand Forks County. If you need to reach him, find his new contact info here.
  6. Grand Forks was named a Great American Defense Community by the Association of Defense Communities (ADC) for our outstanding support of service members and making Grand Forks a great place for our Air Force Base to call home.
  7. Klaus Thiessen and Terry Sando attended the UAS Industry Day, hosted by the ND Dept. of Commerce, meeting with global companies exploring opportunities to expand in the region.
  8. Terry led coordination of a drone camera test flight for a camera manufactured by Finnish company Rikola Ltd. He is working with the company to help identify U.S. market opportunities and expansion into the region.
  9. As part of the board’s commitment to address regional workforce, the EDC began meeting with area developers to update them on projects, including Grand Sky, that are expected to draw new people to the region and learn more about their plans for single family home developments.
  10. The EDC and The Chamber co-hosted breakfasts with candidates vying to be the next UND president, providing an opportunity for business leaders to meet them and discuss ways the community embraces UND and role it plays in the region.
