The Northeast Regional UAS Unit (NERUASU) received the Excellence in Police Aviation award, which recognizes exemplary work in airborne law enforcement. The award emphasizes initiatives to enhance the general level and safety of operations, accident prevention programs, and the efficiency and effectiveness of airborne law enforcement.
The award was given by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) in October.
“We are truly humbled and appreciative of IACP’s recognition of the Northeast Region Unmanned Aircraft Systems Unit’s work in providing our region with responsible police aviation,” said Grand Forks County Sheriff Bob Rost. “This award is due to the collaborative efforts among the grand Forks County Sheriff’s Department, Grand Forks Police Department, UND Police Department, and Cass County Sheriff’s Office.”
NERUASU uses four aircraft to provide air support to public safety agencies within 18 eastern Dakota counties.
